Hi All,

I experience shuddering when braking. An experienced mechanic drove my car and believes the problem to be caused by bad front rotors. I plan to purchase 2 new brake disc with part number N1000-110112.

Are there any "how-to's" for front rotor replacement on a 2001 Infiniti I30. Any steps or cautions would be appreciated.

Thank You,

Johnny D

Rotor replacement is pretty easy... All youhave to do is take off the calipers and pull the rotors off... EASY.

Are you going to replace the pads too?? If its close to time, id recommend it.

Most rotors have 2 holes in the face for you to thread 2 screws into to push the rotor off the hub. Don't know the threads offhand, but the manual should say. They'll be metric, probably 8, 10 or 12mm. Consider this if the rotor's being difficult. Or do what most people do and crank the hell out of it with a hammer. I don't like the hammer approach--don't know what's getting damaged.

I had this problem, tried the BFH approch and just chewed up the hammer. One rotor was off (easily) but the other was not budging for anything. So I went to Autozone, with the old rotor, and they coudl nto find a thread that matched at all. Infact al they did was bodge up the thread a bit. Kragen were no help either.

Finally however, HOME DEPOT had all the ranges of 10mm and 12mm in 100, 125 and 150 pitch threads and it turns out to be the 10mm @ 125, they are abotu $2 each for a pair of 60mm long one. These then worked like a charm and even fitted my new after market rotors for next time.

Great info on the threads.

I tried the BFH approach, then had to go to the VBFH, to get them off. If you are trying to re-surface the originals, then a Brass BFH is the best way. Use some penetrating oil on the hub, where it meets the disc. Then use some steel wool on the hub before you re-install the discs. I put some anti-sieze on my hubs, to help next time. Who knows if it will make a difference.
