The speaker amplifiers are shot, and I wanted to replace the outdated stereo anyway, I had in mind to put the Boss Audio http://www.bossaudio.com/auto/bv9380nv/

I hear it's a little deep. I wondered how deep will the Q45 space is, and if any of you did a radio upgrade and if it worked.

Also I was told that I would need to bypass the cabling of the car to connect the speakers directly.

The Bose speakers are low impedance ~2Ohm which is not safe for aftermarket head units. They are rated for 4Ohm, so your probably going to have to replace the speakers unless you want the amplifier in the head unit to burn out.

Even if you got an external amplifier the system wont sound right because those Bose amplifiers are tuned for those speakers. The fronts are four inch and the rears are 6x9. I made panels so I could mount 6.5 components in the front doors.

New speakers and screen or CD player whichever you prefer. With a nice system installed it brings new life to the Q45.

Meant to respond to other post but

Had the same issue. Try replacing the starter relay/ignition relay which is only about $20. If you open your hood its the little blue square type thing in the rear passenger side of the engine bay. Next to the ABS unit.

Yeah if your bose is shot, the best thing to do is just convert it all to aftermarket. You can keep the bose enclosures for the front and run some 4" speakers..
