ASAD? Or anyone else who is extremely knowledgeable about 240s I have my car apart and I also have a machinist who can repin an exhaust cam for me. Does anyone know the exact number of degrees difference between int/exh cam pin location? I know everyone refers to 10 O'clock and 12 O'clock which would be a 60 degree difference, but how exact is that? does anyone know so I can give the machinist exact specification and make sure that I get the perfect valve overlap and exhaust scavenging that the nissan engineers intended.

Anyone who has had an S13 exhaust cam repinned, how did you make sure that it was pinned exactly like the Nissan motorsports cam.

TIA

I read in another post that it was 4 teeth counterclockwise, which would be retarded 18.9', but you should be able to use the direction of rotation and then find a place where the cams are at rest on #1 and the distributor gear was placed at 16'BTC (I believe is base timing on the KA), then with the bottom end loose, set it at TDC. Then you would mark where the intake side is in relation to the marked chain, then have it installed there. Of course, I could just be blowing smoke up your arse, so find a second opinion.

Compare to a stock intake cam...

If the machinist has the ability to accurately degree and pin it in the new spot, he should be able to detemrine the exact location from a stock intake cam.

And FYI...intake cams have the pin at EXACTLY 12 o'clock with respect to the #1 cam lobe...so have him find the exact Noon position, and drill it there. And while that me be ~1 degree off, it's as good or better than the "4-tooth CCW" method.

What do you think that would cost, when I had to repair my stock intake cam, when I pushed the dowel in and cracked it, it cost me $40 to get it V'd and welded up, and have a new dowel pin installed. So I would think I could get it done for $40 again, but anyone else have any ideas, and does it work, is there more power to be had?

Why couldn't you just drill a whole in your stock gear, just like the JWT unit.
