HiI have a 1993 Bluebird (Altima) which eats fuel pumps. Have had 6 in 4yrs. (50,000Km) Have had them replaced with Nissan originals, aftermarkets and 2nd hand pumps. The best lasted 18 months. Mechanics and Auto electricians tell me voltages to the pump ok, no obvious reason for them burning out.

Any suggestions

Thanks

My friend's mid 80's caddy fuel pump went out because he uses Beacon gas. Gasoline ate up the plastic screener on the fuel pump, causing the fuel pump stop working.

I think most of the import car fuel pump screener are metal, though.

Is your gas tank clean? The only explianation I have is, the fuel pump may be pumping dirty fuel all the time, causing the pump overload and burn.

check to make sure you dont have any blockage in the fuel lines and that you also replace the sock filter on the pump itself. check voltage DROP across the power and ground side of the pump. voltage drop testing while engine(and pump) are running is the most accurate test of resistance.
