My right side mirror was smashed and it is broken. It is actually not that bad.. considering the mirror is still in perfect condition and the case is also spotless... it is juss the plastic that surrounds the mirror that jams the mirror. The plastic is also a bit chipped. Anyways, I went to get an estimate today to fix this.. and they wanted 650.. I feel that I am totally being ripped off. Anyways.. I just left the door immediately.. Can anyone tell me what price I should be shooting for to get this simple thing fixed?

Thats definitely on the pricey side. The part can be had for $150-250 online. They are overcharging you on labor and the part obviously. Seek a second opinion.

You can always do it yourself. If you aren't sure if you can handle doing a job like this yourself then you may consider buying the part and bringing it to a shop to install.

650!! I hope that comes with a 7 day cruise to the Bahama's!!

Like Tyler said, you should just buy one online. You could even get the OEM for much cheaper.

I haven't looked at the Altima yet, but I'm pretty sure it's a very simple install. The mirrors on most cars are usually held in place by 2 or 3 bolts. To get to those bolts, there's a plastic interior piece located right behind the mirror. Now those are usually held in place with retainer clips. Just use a flat head and gently pry it off. If you have the 3.5, there will probably be a wire harness for the power to the turn signals. Just unplug, then plug in the new ones. Reverse the process and you're done.

Of course, this is how I've changed out old ones on other cars. I haven't gotten a chance to check out my new car, but I don't think it would be much different.
