Hey guys,

After multiple attempts to get my car to pass smog, I ran the CEL check and came up with 3 codes. 13 (Engine Temp Sensor), 32 (EGR Sensor), and 34 (Knock Sensor). I think I've traced it to this issue...

I'm pretty sure what was causing the knock was due to a faulty engine temp.

My latest smog results are...

I think that issue concurs with those readings. I'm not seeing anything else except for possible hairline cracks in vacuum lines.

I had to splice into the wires with T-clamps (I think that's what they're called) in order for my fan controller to know the temperature. My question is, what would be the best way to remedy this issue? Should I solder all the connections together and put some liquid tape on it? It looks like I'm going to have to splice open the harness some more to get some room. I could solder some more wire on it as well. Anyone know the gauge of the wire offhand?

Alright so I soldered the wires together and everything looked good. I cleared the ECU codes and ran the car up an down a few hills and roads. When I got back to the garage, I checked the codes again. Only code 34 (Knock sensor) =(. Hmm, so maybe the knock sensor is causing me to run rich as well? But my NOx was high so I'm a bit confused. I turned off the car, went inside, and read that I should check the timing. I started the car back up (already warm) and checked timing. 20° BTDC. I guess it might be malfunctioning at speed or high revs?

I'll also add that I was out of the country for a month and the car was outside and never turned on or moved. Maybe the gas is has gone bad?
