I bought my QX4 used and was working on it when I found that there was a hole in the hose between the mass air flow sensor and the throttle body. I patched it with rubber cement and a strip from an old inner tube (funds are low) and now the car will not run. It will start but cuts out right away. I know that the computer regulates everything and it has been running with the leak for a while now and so I am looking for a way to reset the computer (ecu or ecm) to factory specs.

Does it stay running if you give it some gas during the few moments it's running at startup?

Have you heard of the idle air relearn procedure? I can't find the thread at the moment, but usually post-MAF intake work usually needs the computer to be reminded where it should be and what it should do once there.

EDIT, I don't think you need to do anything as the mods will probably move this thread, just an FYI that you posted this in the sedan section. You'd prob get more attention at the Pathy section.

I got a friend coming over tomorrow with a fancy smancy code reader and he says it can handle it. I will let you know.
