Does anyone know of any good repair shops in the Tampa, Fl. area? I need to get some suspension work done on my 98Q. By the way, I am a new member and I appreciate all th info here on the forum. I think I have figured out the problem by reading others posts but I just don't have the time to tackle it myself.

Thanks, Steve

Hey, welcome home!

T-3 in Atlanta is hands down the best. Will let other members comment on Tampa, but don't recall any off the top of my head. Still, suspension is not too exotic and a competent technician should be able to handle it, especially with a FSM.

You would think, but just spent $450 throwing parts at it which did not help at all. I am afraid I am going to the dealership unless someone may be able to reccomend a decent shop.

Thanks

It really isn't rocket science. Any shop with one of the current Hunter alignment machines and some training should be able to hadle it.

Why not post in Infiniti Mechanic Forum, recite the symptoms and what you did along with other pertinent maintenance history.

Well, I am getting a metal clanking or rattle noise over small bumps and road imperfections which is coming from the driver front strut area. It also pulls to the right. I just bought this car and I dont believe it has had any service done to it. I was pretty excited because it is a 98 with only 50k on it. Now, I have had a shop put on end links, a torosion bar bushing?, and a believe the strut rod, and do an alignment. I still have the same symptoms though it does feel tighter. From reading other posts to me it sounds like it may be the strut mount and or the rubber seal right below the strut mount. I really hope I don't need new struts because it is quite expensive. It seems to handle the larger bumps just fine.

Thanks, Steve

98Q is 8 years old at minimum, generally shocks last 4 years or 60k which ever occurs first...........just because a car isn't driven doesn't mean that shocks last that much longer...[some longer just not double]...........once they are cycled the nitrogen begins to dissolve in fluid and leak out.

But that doesn't usually create a noise.

Yeah I know they can go around then, but something is causing this rattle. I also have 117k on my 98 maxima and the suspension is solid. Oh well I will post when I find out. It looks like it is off to the shop/ dealer for me at the end of the week.

Did they replace the frame bushings for the sway bar....?? Id start there as its an easy DIY... Then id look into the strut mount.

I appreciate it. I will get to the bottom of it. By the way, I read that someone has copies of fsms. If this is correct who would I contact.

Be sure to get the TSB also. There's a mess of them for the FYG33.

It was the strut mount. It is driving nice and smooth right now. Thanks everyone for your input!
