I'm in need of a repair shop on the SouthSide of Chicago. My knock Sensor under the manifold went bad. The Infiniti shop in Orland park say 5Hr labor @$123.00/HR. Better yet any place in Chicago with better rates would help.

Forget the dealer. If you have a garage and some tools, you can replace the KS (since you're in there, you should replace both sensors) yourself. There are several threads on the forum with step by step instructions and quick tips. If you still can't get it fixed, I might be willing to replace these for you for way cheaper than the dealer if we don't get a huge snowstorm or subzero temps. I am located in Downers Grove near I-88 and I-355.

BTW, do you already have the sensors? If not, then you might as well order two OEM sensors and have them ready to go. Some members may recommend you replace the harness as well, but in my experience, my harness was fine and I reused it with no problems. Might also consider new plugs, (2) PCVs, fuel filter and a TB and air induction cleaning for best results. I can do those as well.

Forgot to look at your sig, how many miles on your car?

1997 Q45 with 78,000 miles. Where is the second one (KS) located? I was told it was at the back of engine near the Fly-wheel, is that correct? I have new plugs & fuel filter too. Sorry I haven't Emailed you back just moved into a new place.

The KS harness connector is located in the rear of the engine plenum, but the sensors are located at the front of the engine underneath the air intake plenum. You will do yourself a great deal of good to download the factory service manual so that you can reference specific components for diagnosis and repairs. At 78K, you can begin a worthwhile maintenance regime that will make your car last a long time.

Yeah theres enough info on KS on the forum here, so I would look into that and see if you're up to the task. Consider reading about the KS harness and hoses as well.
