I wonder if this mostly applies to the entry-level and midsize cars. I suspect the already expensive luxury cars and SUVs might stay around the same price. I could be very wrong though.

Gee, I rented a Cadillac Catera many years ago, and the best part of that experience was returning it. That's interesting about the rate increases. I've gotten double and triple upgrade offers from the major companies in the last few weeks.

Orlando is sooo cheap to rent cars. I got a Chevy Sonic there a few weeks back for $10/day, $12 with insurance included!
