I am trying to adjust my clutch pedal assembly and switches but am having a very hard time getting under there to do it. Is it possible to get this vent area completely off like in the picture from this tutorial without taking the whole dash off? I looked at the FSM but not sure from those pics.

Thank you!

The actual vent that connects to the door is held on by clips and just pops out. The black plastic vent pipe that feeds it is attached by 1 or 2 screws from below, you have to remove the under-steering wheel panel to get to the fastener/s

Thanks. I did pop the vent off but couldn't find how to get the rest of the black piece off without taking the rest of the dash off. It didn't look like it was a separate piece like in the picture.

It is a separate piece, like I said you need to take the lower trim panel off to gain access to the fasteners holding it in place. There may be some clips under/behind the center console side trim panel as well. It's been over a year since I've done this so I don't remember exactly. That said you shouldn't need to remove anything to get access to the clutch and brake adjustment. Easiest way is to push the seat all the way back and lay on your back on the floor with your head under the dash and your legs straddling the headrest or sticking out the sunroof. If you're not that flexible then you can take out the east, its only 4 bolts/nuts and an electrical connection.

I'm not even sure you can get a wrench to the clutch adjustment nuts from that panel.
I think they just removed it for pics to illustrate the switch locations.
All the pics shown on the SZ tech site are from the bottom shooting up.
Easier to remove the seat and just lay on your back if you are a bigger guy.

I've done it without removing panels and a standard box-head and a healthy portion of sailor-talk.

I may go the route of removing the seat to give me more room and go from there. I had my legs hanging out the side, could only get one arm in there to do work and couldn't find a good place to sit the light source. I have been under there way too much lately.

I should have added to my previous comment that I have owned Z32s for over a decade, multiple Z32s so my knuckles have seen some s*** so i'm pretty well adjusted to working on them. It may be more difficult at the start.

Can you actually adjust the rod length of the Master Cylinder while it is still attached to the pedal just by turning it or do you have to disconnect it from the pedal first?

yes, once the lock nut is loose. I've adjusted a few that needed pliers to rotate.
