Hi guys, I will be installing a subwoofer enclosure in my trunk and as you all know, there is little room in the 89 240sx coupe. Anyway, there are these two bars that cross attached to the trunk. I was told they help "pop open" the trunk when you turn the key.

Is there any harm in removing this since it is getting in the way of the enclosure I want? Is it easily removed/reinstalled. I do want the trunk to stay open when I push it up, so is there another way around this?

Thank you much

You could do some welding/fabricting and hook up some sort of spring to keep it open, but without the 2 rods the trunk will not stay open.
