Hey guys im replacing my clutch and i cant get the damn trans off. I have all of the bolts out and all of the sensors disconneted but still the bastard is on. Seems like the top of the transmission is hitting the fire wall. I've tried moving it back a few inches and slowly lower it but it still stuck.

Any pointers would be great.

loosen the engine mounts. Place a block of wood on a jack and raise the front of the engine an inch or so. Along pry bar will help walk the transmission off the engine.

No problem. I suggest a second person to hold the transmission securely on the second jack. The shaft cover that your throw out bearing rides on has a tendency to crack. I'm not sure if the KA cover is the same as the sr. Any way just a heads up.

I actually took a 2x4 ~ 18 inches long, drilled a hole in it, countersunk it a bit, put a bolt/washer through it and bolted it to my jack. throw some wratchet straps around the transmission/ board and you've got yourself a ghetto transmission jack.

saved my 120lb weak *** much pain with removing/installing.

Sound like some redneck ingenuity I like it I did mine in january 2006? it was cold as Shi* and I don't have a garage. I bought my buddy some beer and smokes to get him to help. Having some one to talk with kept my mind off the cold..but that idea would have saved me from breaking the above mentioned piece the first time.

I was running a KA so i got it at nissan...maybe they are the same IDK for sure. They usually break during install from people forcing a mis aligned trans together.

heh, I've done 5 auto-manual swaps, and 2 clutch jobs. the first two times i had a couple of friends to help me out, but the 3rd time I was all alone, and, well, disparity breeds ingenuity.

My friends kinda poke fun of me, and tell me that I'd be the guy who would pull a motor with a tow strap and a tree branch... but you know what? my stuff runs, and theirs don't

Jack front of motor up a bit

Unbolt driveshaft

UNbolt slave cylinder

Unbolt sensors

Unbolt transmission from engine

Pull it off as far as you can (till it hits firewall)

SPIN the transmission 90 degrees to the right

Angle down and pull out.
