yeah you can leave the shifter in and drop it straight down all you have to do is disconnect the sensor harnes, take out bell housing bolts and starter , driveshaft, slave cylinder, all the oil, speed sensor pull the transmission spline out of the engine take pressure plate off resurface the flywheel, put the new clutch on and reverse the order. i always put new gear oil in the transmission and bleed the clutch. sometimes the rear main seal. hope this helps

Can you explain to me how you dropped the trans w/o disassembling the shifter? It doesn't just "drop down." you have to pull the transmission back several inches so the input shaft clears the pressure plate.

oh yeah, you have to take the boot off the ****er assembly, and pop the snap ring out where the shifter ball goes into transmission...well i guess you do physically remove the shifter....but you save that hard to find gasket from the shifter plate to the transmission. sorry if i was misleading

drain the fluid before you remove the tailshaft.either that or choose to wear it.you will need to refill.it's pretty easy through the shifterhole, can't tell you capacity though.can't remember.after it's all installed except the shifter, start filling it up with the fillplug(side) removed.when it starts to dribble out the side.you're done.

When me and my bro did the clutch on my 90 coupe, we had it on a lift, it will take at least 2 people to help get it up and line it up. This transmission isnt all that lite by any means, lol. We also wore gear oil. Wear old clothes that you really don't care about, cause if not, you're new tshirt will smell like gear oil no matter how many times it's washed.

the oil will drain when the spped sensor is pulled. also when the driveshaft is pulled the fluid will drain.

it can be a pain refilling through the fill plug. so from home depot i got some fat tubing long enough to reach the fill plug from the engine. attach a funnel to the tubing and watch it slide down to the fill hole. and when it dribbles out, its full.

there's also a carrier bearing in there.you'll see it about halfway up the shaft secured with 4 17mm bolts.
