I've searched around and couldn't find a thread on how to remove the knob.

I heard it was glued in and threaded in. So a simple counter clock wise rotation should loosen it up? Then I just plop in my shift knob with the correct adaptor and walah?

yup, I used a towel and channel locks...it was also 10 degrees F but it was still a beotch to get cracked and then even a beotch to unscrew...almost like it was half-a** threaded on there in the 1st place...

did it break when you were trying to take it off, and is it just the knob?

No, it didn't break I meant cracked lie cracking open a beer...it was on there tight...and like I sadi even after "crascking" it it was still hard a** hell to unscrew..but the new knob went on fine

Ditto on that, you kinda have to break the seal. once you get it to budge it'll unscrew pretty smooth
