I finally recovered all the info from my Hard Drive so I am going to get my a** in gear and get this all ready and install the J30 Keyless entry system. It won't be as near OEM as I would like but I can always fix it in time when I get more money (As my signature says (Said).

I looked in the service manual but I would rather know from someone from experience. Hopefully this is easier than resealing the valve covers. :chuckle:

So how do I remove the carpet and how much work am I looking at here to do so?

haven't done the q yet but it is generally as simple as removing the seats, console, and trim panels. did you find a replacment carpet? i haven't been able to find an aftermarket replacment so i'm leaning towards a cut and sew but i'd rather have molded.

Thanks for the reply but I intend to take the carpet out and run the wires for the keyless entry. Or if that proves to hard I may run it through the roof down the pillars.

I wish I could find a OEM new carpet for cheap though.

My car is a disaster right now but I will show you my plans for power folding/heated/dimmed with lights under the mirrors, 1994-1996 interior auto dimming mirror, 1994-1996 Q45 trunk net, 1990-1992 Q45 vent lights and hopefully the keyless entry from a 1992-1997 J30. Oh and I almost forgot the rear shock tower bar for the 1990-1996 Q45. Hell I might even make you one if you want, you just need to find some FGY33 (1997-2001) Q45 shock tower hats (Shock Tower Bar mounts)

why would you remove the carpet to run wires? more specifically, what is at the rear of the car that you need to tap into? all power (constant, acc), grounds, locks, and lights can generally be tapped under the column or at the harness in the kick panel.

either way, removing the carpet is unnecessary. even if you have to run wires to the rear they should be run along the factory harness which can be accessed by removing the driver side kick panel, door sills, b pillar, and rear seats.

So much easier to just have one professionally installed and reap the extra benefits of the available features {remote start/security system} that you wont get with a old used modified j30 keyless entry.......forget the "keep it OEM crap", we are not talking about a classic collectable increasing value old corvette or other exotic here.....plus the aftermarket systems are soo much better with range closing in on 1 mile...unlike the 50 feet range of the factory system.

Qship I fully understand what your saying and your right in some ways in my opinion. But with today's economy people don't stay in business long unless they do things right. Now I have trusted my two vehicles to many shops, dealers... And nearly all have let me down but two.

Point two is that people who first bought a old Volkswagen, Mustang...You name it also never thought they would be popular today am I right?

And of couse I buy the name, I want it to say Infiniti or Nissan and nothing else. Imagine you pay $40K for a car with a Viper alarm, Would you like it?

I agree that the after market systems maybe better in some ways but who needs to start there car a mile a way. Maybe I am paranoid and I have every right to be in Massachusetts but I don't think I will change my mind on this one sorry.

And of course the main reason I want to install it is to prove to myself and others that I can do it. And of course if something does go wrong I get the entire blame which I am fine with. Maybe I will change my mind and just run the wires myself and have the installer connect them (Solder) me.

Only upside to a aftermarket alarm is the two way communication system which alerts you to the status of your vehicle.

Well I saw the harness for the door lock timer runs under there and meets with the main harness under the seat. I am only looking at running 10 wires max to the front of the vehicle (dashboard) so I will run them along the A, B and C pillar of the vehicle. there are many upsides to that if done correctly.

I found it rather difficult to run wires front to back (following the factory routing) without also removing the front seats. You can't just pull wires through the ducting, as they get hung up around the lower seat belt mounting point. With the front seats removed, you are more than half way toward removing the carpet. The remaining items are the rear console and front console. To get the front console out, you need to remove the rear console, radio bezel, lower left dash bezel, and lower dash cover on drivers side.

My carpet didn't have any holes, so I just cleaned it in place. Big improvement. The previous owners were such slobs!

I appreciate the information about removing carpet as I will soon be removing mine to install sound deadening material.
