How do I remove the door panel? I need to replace the front speakers. The one on the right seems to be damaged. But I can't pry it off since its apparently screwed tightly. WHen I removed the 3 screws it seemed to be still held to something, perhaps it was the door ac air way, and the door lock unit. How do I remove those without breaking anything?

I did a search and found noting but head removal, and rear speakers removal.

Perhaps some one can help?

I got just what you need!

I just replaced the speakers in my S14. I used the FSM to make sure I didn't break anything.

First undo the 3 screws near the bottom.Next undo the screw near the door lock mechanism. Then undo the screw in the door handle where the window buttons are located.

These are all the screws that you have to remove. The door is still being held by pop on/off fasteners. Start on one side of the door near the bottom and gently pull until you hear a pop and the door interior comes loos in tha area. You'll have to repeat this process all around the door.

Now the bottom and sides should be loose.

Next you must remove the insert portion near the door lock. This is a little tricky because its held in by the lever that you use to open the door. You should see a rectangular outline that's right near where the AC vents connect.

You don't need to remove the AC vents. Just press around the outside of the rectangle that encases the door lock mechanism. This is much easier than trying to pry it up with a screw driver.

The fasterners will pop loose, then you must lift the door handle near the lock and slide the rectangular cup like piece of plastic from under neath the door lock.

Once you have that piece free, you should be able to lift up on the door interior piece and it all come up.

You will be able to remove the door panel with the AC vent intact.

I had to remove the wiring harness connected to my window and lock switches to get the panel far enough away from the door so that I can work on the speakers.

I replaced the factory cardboard (absolute junk!) with ^6.5inch Alpine 170As speakers (They are the type S. I believe the Type Rs are too deep to put into the opening.) These speakers are great and the bolt right in with no modification or mounting bracket whatsoever.

Hope this helps. Feel free to email me at [email protected] if you need more help. Don't worry about breaking anything, as long as all the screws or out, you will have a hard time breaking anything.
