Does anyone know if it's possible to remove the AWD components (I'm guessing this would be the front driveshaft) on a 2012 M37X? I live in the south (don't need the AWD capability) and would like to get the extra MPG boost, but I don't want to damage the car, either.

Thanks....

I won't be as blunt as Frog...but you're literally going to save yourself maybe $5 bucks at the pump. Times 52 weeks in a year...maybe $260 total. Not worth the effort, IMO.

Now if you were asking to disable it so you could have more burnout fun in your car, that's another story. :bigthumb:

Okay I'm pretty bad. I'll admit it.

It would probably be easier to trade it in for a RWD variant as opposed to removing AWD components. There's just too much involved. It's not an easy bypass situation like what you might think.

Truer words have never been spoken. Rode my Ninja ZX6R ALLLLL day today and burned less than a tank of gas (~$12). :chuckle: :woot:

Thanks for the advice.... I think I'll just stick with the "X" for now. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know of any other heavy parts, etc. that could possibly be removed to save gas?

Interior, spare tire, maybe power steering, etc. This is just based off of what people have been doing for 20 years to reduce weight in Auto-X cars, etc.

You could always put a Prius engine in it.

Gas weighs about 8.5lbs a gallon. If u always drive with 1 gallon in the tank that's a 161lb savings. That's your best bet

This seems like some of the best advice, but I think I can do one better. How about removing the engine entirely and fitting the car with bicycle pedals and just pedaling the car wherever I need to go?

Also, what about taking a prescription laxative concoction an hour or so before driving so that I can literally blow out any excess weight before I even step into the car?
