Is there a way that you can bypass the 10 minute timer for the recirculate button on the climate control so that you don't have to keep turning it back on every 10 minutes? My mom has a 91' Q45 and the recirc button stays on once it is selected and does not go out unless you push it again or turn off the a/c.

I don't know but I'd sure as hell like to.

Having to hit the Recirc button constantly is a pi$$er.

Any body else out there with a Q between '90 and 95 that you don't have to Keep reseting the recirc button? My mom's is a 91. Maybe there is something wrong with her's.

Also thought that I'd mention that the light on the recirculate button is also brighter then mine to where you can see it in the daytime just as well as at night even with your sunglasses on.

My '90 had its entire climate control system replaced around 1997, and the new CCU still has the annoying timer.

I use it in the winter when I dont want to smell the nasty exhaust in front of me.

Its just annoying for it to turn itself off when I need it to be on. I would rather have control over that particular function.

Mine is intermittent. Sometimes it will stay on for hours, other times, it only stays on for less than a minute.

Didn't realize that it had a timer. I just use it when I go in the Lincoln Tunnel.

Do you think that there is like a small clock on the board like you would find on the motherboard of a computer? I wonder if maybe you could bypass it. There must be some sort of countdown clock on it, how else would it know to shut off after 10 minutes.

I just went and read the entire system description on the climate control multiplex, and there is nothing on the recirculation timer..... The wiring diagram is quite complex to follow... i dont know how youd even START thinking about making this work....

I fear that if someone starts playing with this stuff, theyre gonna end up making things worse....

EDIT: I also want to point out the FSM has no informatoin on the actual electronics just on the wiring... Makes sense if you think about it because a tech wouldnt really need ot know about that.

I would think it's part of the climate controller. It seems like I lost that "feature" while I was using the 93 controller that I bought out of a junk yard. I know it's not ECU controlled, because I now have a 90 controller and a 93 ECU and the timer is there...

Matt, why not test the theory by swapping control heads between your car and your mom's?

The thing that irks me the most about this "feature" is when its 70-80 outside and I have no AC on.

I have to push the button every 10 minutes to keep the warm engine air from cooking my feet. IMO the most retarded thing on the car. I might try swapping my CC unit soon.

Obviously one of the little things redesign after the 1990. When I bought a new HVAC ECU [yes there are microproceesors inside] in 1998 to fix problems noticed the shut off went away.

Ever noticed the timed auto shutoff on rear window defroster to save the battery and avoid cracking the glass [?]

Q45techDo you know what the part number was for the climate control that you bought? It may have another part number. I could use that to locate a replacement with out the timer. I have to pull her radio out to swap in another so I will try to take a look and see if I can find a part number on her climate controller and see if it is the same number as the one that you purchased.

You konw, i bet jerry tucker might have an idea how to deal with this. He probably knows more about the climate control systems than anyone else in the country. At least for the CCHU.

Dennis' controller bought in 1998 would have a part number ending in 60U06, which is the same part number that came in the 1993 model year - and the same one you would get if you buy a new one at the dealership now.

Honestly - if you have a good working unit - I wouldn't mess with it.

When the controller in my current Q went bad, I bought a 60U06 out of a junk yard, but it had a dim display and the typical intermittant display problem. So I sent my 90 controller from Q2 off to Jerry Tucker for a rebuild... which didn't stay fixed. My feeling is that Jerry knows which one component usually goes bad - and replaces that. He's a great guy to work with though... fixed both the 93 and 90 bad units that I sent for the price of one. Actually he fixed the 90 one twice. So three fixes for the price of one...

When I sold Q1, I saved that controller. Somehow I got a good one there... original unit from 1989, never rebuilt and never a problem... knock on wood.

I have a 1990 q45 and my climate control works but it does not light up.now i can buy the head unit but i don't know if that is the problem.what i really would like to know is if i can find a wiring diagram for the back of it so i could trouble shoot a single wire.

Update...I swapped headunits from my mom's('91 Q45) to mine('90 Q45) and found that the recirculate button on the HU that was in her car stayed on once it was selected in my car until I turned it off. It had been on for about 30 minutes when I turned it off. The display is also brighter then mine.

Here are the part numbers off of the back of it.....28525-60U06----1X31. Here is the part numbers off of mine......28525-60U00----9Z06.

Any body who has the "no-timer" recirc climate control, could you find out and see if the part number on the back ends in 60U06. If so then I will know for certain that the part number that I will be looking for will be the above. Thanks
