Nissan and I guess the US goverment have decided we will not be safe driving our Murano's over 118 MPH, I disagree!!!!!!! Has anyone figured out how to re-program the computer to allow full potential top speed.

Yep there's a way,

nope you can't keep your OEM Ecu & modify it, that's a whole new unit - in Japan Impul makes one that's said to improve acceleration, improve shifting oint even ion CVT and suppress Speed limiter but counterpart is that it can't work on all Ecu series (only specific one) & u have to get a special code that u can have about your own Ecu only from a nissan dealer ... and it only works with superior quality unleade, Octane 95 or 100 not sure.

In my knowledge & after long searches cause I wanted elctrionic improve that's the only way you can modify it straight & reliably (Impul is a great Nissan tuner in japan) but at a price ... $1600 the little thing

Since the speed limit in your area is must about the same as in all the other states, why would you want to go 118+? Not to be argumentative or anything, but if you were to drive that fast on the highway next to me, I would consider you a hazard and an accident waiting to happen. The fastest I have ever taken my PT Cruiser is 100 as i was passing a line of cars. Then slowed back down to 65. It was a steering wheel gripping moment for me. My car could have been gold goo all over the road.

There is a BIG difference between a PT and a Murano. I travel on remote highways in desert areas late at night with no traffic and it is fun to exercise a well equipt vehicle to it's limits. I have 40 years of driving experience with over a million miles, I would never endanger anyone else, I just do not like being told by the goverment or the manufactures at what speed I am able to safely operate a vehicle(Ford now limits their full sized vans I believeto 85MPH). I am willing to be responsible for my own actions, I do not need anyone else telling me that I am not allowed to make my own decisions.

Realize that anything you do right now with removing the speed limiter will void a good portion of the warranty (should Nissan find out of course). You would have to use a aftermarket ECU to get rid of the programming for the most part and I have not seen a company advertise such at this time.

You are absolutely right about there being a big difference. That is one reason I am foregoing the PT and getting a Mo.

Do you wear your seatbelt??? Even though I do, I feel they (government and insurance companies) have no business regulating and legislating morality. If I want to take that chance, it is MY chance to take.

Hope you can get your Mo up to the speeds you would like. Here in the Pacific NW, there are too many deer on the roads at night to drive too fast. The buggers don't seem to realize that they can only stand on the road where it says "DEER CROSSING".
