Removing Spark Plug WIre... idles better

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

what does it mean when I remove a spark plug wire and the motor seems to idle better with out it?

Means that cylinders spark plug isnt doing its job....

but the spark plugs are brand new. I also unplugged the injector and got the same results.

hmm, im not for sure but if it is the wire that hooks to the spark plugs cylinder thats the very first to run from the fuel rail then maybe there is something clogged in the fuel rail, but u said when u un hook the wire too.

Means you need to do a compression check.

so i took off the injector on that one cylinder and the low o-ring was pretty much torn into pieces. So this time I came short of dunking the darn injector in vaseline to keep the o-rings from tearing. Now the car idles beautifully, however, when I rev it up it smokes a lot! And has pretty bad performance when I try to go around the block.

sounds like your injector is stuck wide open. im having a similiar problem but ive ruled out everything but the ecu and knock sensorcheck to see if you spark plug on that cyl is wet. also crank the engine without the plugs in it and see if gas shoots out of any of themif it does, check the wires to the injector to see if your getting power to themif you are, bad injector if your not, your probobly in the same boat as me
