so me and a buddy have been using the dry-ice method on all the sound deadening with great results aside from the wheel wells and the transmission tunnel because of how they are sloped. I can't think of anyway to get the dry ice to stay put on a vertical surface and banging hard at the wheel wells will def. dent them up bad so i just need some advice from people who have experience doing this. Oh yes, and also what do you guys recommend on getting the tar residue off? some kind of adhesive remover?

thanks in advance

White Comet used a wire wheel to remove it all from his wheel well I think.

I finally finished removing all the sound deadening, painted and dynamat. I did all this because someone decided to put and aftermarket sunroof (leaked bad) started to rust under it.

Used a flat screwdriver for most of it. On the wheel well i used a razor blade/scraper with a lot of patience. also it was cold so it came of quickly and chip off sometimes. the best method to get the tar off is paint thinner and a clean rag >.> and elbow grease.

Good Luck!

Ya the paint thinner makes it look brand new. I also have everything done but the wheel wells. I was gonna use like fireplace log turning tongs and hold the dry ice with those against the wall and try that. As for the glue stuff on some of the seams and what not I am wiring wheeling it and am gonna run a weld down them to seal them up. Here is a link to a good page too. zerothread?id=368751 . He seemed to use a torch in places also that seemed to work.

why do you want to remove it? this gives protection from rust on that area.

You can re-paint and it looks nicer especially if you don't run carpet. Whats uder the material is paint so if you have a rust spot under a patch then its good way to catch that. Also gives you a nice start if you want to install new dyno mat or what not.
