keep twisting with a towel and a wrench or something to get more leverage on it

If you are not planning on keeping the old shift knob you can cut it with a jigsaw and remove it. Then just screw on your new shift knob.

Yea it comes off. My current knob is backwards cuz my friend stripped the threads so it only holds tight when backwards. And my 2nd 240 i just got the prvious owner i guee did the same thing because there was super glue holding it on. Used a towel and pipe-wrench and came off with a little pressure.

When you do finally get it off...don't expect to get it back on the way it was before...i took mine off and after that it was done...never went back on...so i opted for a new one

You have the same one I do...

I love the way it feels, but man, it does get HOT on a sunny day.
