How's it going everyone, I picked up a 92 hatch with a ca18det. The PO or whoever did the swap was a little out there. It was running a Central 20 chip with an SAFC and it ran poorly. So im having a local-ish tuner make me a chip with his new software. I ordered a second chip that would get here quicker to hold me over. Anyway, the car would not rev past 2500 with the new chip, so I removed the safc and reatached pin 26 (green/black) to the ecu for the 5v maf signal. Now the car should run fine with this chip but is throwing code 12, I know my maf is good, i drove the day before the new chip. So I tried my second maf and a third maf all N62's, which is what the chip is coded for. Nothing seems to work, I rewired the maf about 4 times today, i even took the wires directly from the maf to the ecu and still the same problem. The car wont idle, wont rev past 2400, and has giant fuel clouds exiting the exhaust.

----When I changed to the new chip I noticed that there are 2 jumpers on the ecu board. Ill post a pic, any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone!

The chip is the issue. Can't put it no simpler than that.

Yea, you got a bad burn. Or maybe it was damaged in shipping. They can be damaged pretty easily by static discharge.

Thats what i was thinking. Thanks for backing up my thoughts.

My ECU has a Nissan Remanufactured sticker on the outside, think they were the ones to make the jumpers?

The maf Green/bkack, black and black/white are all located in a gray shielded wire. Inside the gray shield is bare wire. What do i do with the bare wire? P/O had a connector on it, is that grounded or powered?

Thanks

Not sure why you have wires bypassing pins in there, looks like some chip tuner/socketter hack job to reroute pins inside the ecu instead of hacking the harness or getting a harness extension to repin/cut. The ecu is made by Hitachi...so....if it uses jumpers they probably look like the ones inside a computer motherboard and not just wires bypassing or moving connector spots. Try to get pics of another CA18 ECU with the cover off and compare them in that spot....I bet the other one wont have that black wire shown in your picture.

Well I know that they are not supposed to be there, the black jumper goes to from a ground to a ground. I looked up the pin numbers to find this out, why its there I have no idea. I have zero idea why they would be there. BUT I put in a proper chip from Emance and now the car doesn't run. Ive spoken with him and I know its not the tune, I am thinking Ill remove these jumpers. I was told that if I remove them, the car will not run. It doesn't run now, so F it, ill remove them. No one seems t know what they are there for.
