I am trying to remove my rim to put the spare temporary tire. I remove the 6 lug nuts. The rim does not seem to want to come off. There is a larger bolt in the center of the rim. Is it possible that this rim is bolted on with this large bolt. There is also a PIN going through the screw/hub that the bolt is on.

See picture of rim here:

The 5 nuts are the only ones that need to be removed. The middle nut and cotter pin are for the axle. Lift the car higher and push against the top of the wheel to dislodge it.

Or...with all 5 lug nuts removed, lower the car back down just until the tire begins to make contact with the ground. Lower it slightly more so that the weight of the car breaks free the wheel, then raise it back again.

Good idea EE! I can't imagine why the wheel is fused to the disk brake or for that matter why the disk wouldn't at the least move. I have seen other cars that have hubcaps held on by plastic bolts. Once you remove the plastic bolts the hubcap can be removed to reveile the actual wheel nuts. But our cars have OEM alloy wheels so this doesn't really pertain unless you have steel wheels with hubcaps.

Thanks EE. I was using the standard jack that is provided with the car to change a spare tire and it was getting dangerous as the amount of rocking that was occurring while trying to get the rim off. I finally figured that the car's weigth could help so I lowered the car while the bolts were off and yes the rim broke free from the disc. Thanks again everyone.
