I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of the rear seatbelts in my '92 240SX SE. I pop the cover off and there's a bolt that looks like the only thing holding it to the car, but I think they epoxied the bolt in at the factory or something, because I almost broke a wrench trying to even budge it.

If there is indeed no way to get them off, then can anyone tell me how to take them apart while they're still attached? Hardly anybody sits in the back seat of my car, and the ball-bearings in the seatbelt mechanisms are annoying as hell with subwoofers. I've just come to accept it as part of the audio system in my car, but I would so love to have clean bass for once. =) (Or at least cleaner...damn hatch rattle.)

So basically I'm just wondering if anyone has run into the same problem and found a way around it. If not, I may just start attacking the mechanisms with a screwdriver. I'd like to avoid that though. ;D

Thanks!

there are 2 bolts they are kinda hard to take off but i got mine off no prob... if its THAT hard to take off then put some WD-40 on it and let it sit for like 3 hours then come back out and it should unbolt..

make SURE ur unboltign it in the right direction. When I first tried to take mine off I did one right and the other wrong, so I almost stripped the thing. (yes, it was the first thing I've ever done on my 240, cuz I hated how the belt assemblies block my rear vision).
