Removing Privacy glass tint?

If anybody knows how to get rid of the shiny factory tint and if i could do it at home that would be nice. I am going to get 5% all the way around but i dont wanna have the mirror effect like you see on some hondas. The shop i brought it to said its inside the glass and couldnt be done. If it can be i will do it. and if anybody wants ill take pics if your looking to do this as well.

I think the shop is right.Factory tint is usually built into the glass. It's not a film like aftermarket tint.Also, 5% is really dark, so you may want to check local laws before doing the glass, especially the fronts.I read earlier in another post that Fueler had to rip off his front tints.Also, my son had to remove his front window tint on his Sentra when he moved to another province.He was stopped and warned, but at least he didn't get a ticket, unlike Mr. Fueler. LOL.Good luck.

yup its factory colored glass, the only way to remove it is to switch the entire glass pieces out

Is the 02 nissan pathfinder has Tint windows or actually film. How can I check to see those.

In simple terms, factory tint will be part of the glass, while aftermarket tint will be a film.The easiest way to tell if it has a film tint is to roll down the window slightly, and look at the top of the glass.The film usually stops about a 1/16th to 1/32nd of an inch from the top of the glass.I put a tint over the top of the already (lightly) tinted factory glass. Made it nice and dark.

The best way to go is to slap 20% on all the windows except the front two. put 35% on those so the cops don't give you a hard time. and put a 5% or 2.5% strip on the windsheild...

I've seen and done many tint jobs and thats the best combo.
