So about eight months ago I wanted some cool flat black rims. I discovered Plasti dip on YouTube and it looked so freaking easy to remove I wasn't even worried about painting my wheels. Well I like the way they look and they have held up one hundred percent. Lately I was getting tired of the look and decided to remove it!

So I start peeling and realize that it's gonna be a huge ordeal to remove. Any interior portion of the wheel that did not receive a thick coat would not come off at all. So I took the wheels off completely and after four hours with a pressure washer and wire brush I have clean wheels again.

I realize that thick coats of dip will peel off, but anything less and especially anything with curves or angles is going to be a terrible mess down the road.

I used 4 coats, went through 2 cans of dip for my stock wheels. They started peeling off when I removed my tires.. But yea, the more coats the better. I had to reapply another 4 coats on top of the empty spot just to bring it back to normal. Btw, clean wheels before the application also helps in the removal.

Oh man, that sucks. Bug & tar remover takes plastidip right off with a microfiber towel. At least your wheels are clean now.
