Is it possible? i have everything unbolted, but the motor mount is what im worried about. The studs are pretty long and lifting up then forwards would cause a lot of stress in the transmission. I have all the bolts un bolted on the transmission and the motor is ready to come out, but i didnt read anywhere that says you can take the transmission out only..... i didnt even find any threads with a detailed step by step thing for removing the motor, so that doesnt help really....

if anyone can make (or ruin) my day by letting me know, then thanks!

It's not hard to take them out together, and it seems that removing the engine while the transmission is still in would mess up the transmission input shaft.

And when you said "taking the transmission out only" I assume you mean taking the motor out only. There are tons of threads about taking the transmission out.

whoops... meant to say removing motor not transmission, got mixed up. i was thinking would possibly bind the input shaft while trying to clear motor mount studs.

what would you recommend? bolt like 4 transmission bolts up, and drop the transmission out?

Well, when I did my swap, I pulled engine and transmission out as one, but I put the trans back in first and then the engine separately. I suppose it's possible. The top two bolts from trans to engine will be fun.

Hook up the engine to your lift, and then take off your mounts. I would also loosen up the trans mounts for some flex room.
