Has anyone had a problem removing the key from the ignition when you park your Altima? I have to restart the car and move the steering wheel ALL THE TIME!! Sometimes it takes two or three tries before I can get the key out of my ignition. What am I doing wrong?

Susanb,Welcome to NICO.

2005 Altima?

I would start with the key first, then trouble shoot the problem in the steering column.

Is the key the original key (or OEM) to the car?Is it worn or bent in certain places?

Second, make sure that the gear selector is properly in the park position.

After that, you can try to give the key a little bit of a giggle when its in the steering column, but dont yank on the key and possibly break it.

If that doesnt fix your problem, I would take it to a Nissan Dealership and make them fix the problem. That is, if the car is still under warranty (which I assume it still is).bud

my 03 Altima has the same problem. Have to move the gear selector back and forth just a little to assure selection is Park and then turn the key just a little back towards on an then all the way off and if comes right out.Pain in the butt and noticed this is common on lots of Altimas.
