I need to remove the dust collar that goes at the end of the KA transmission (where the drive shaft goes in) so I can put that on the SR transmission...

How do I remove this thing? I yanked on it hard but still can't remove it.

Any ideas?

pretty sure you have to destroy it to take it off. You may get lucky and pry it out with a screw driver. Many people as a last resort will put a screw in it and yank it out with a pair of pliers.

You can also use a pulley puller and it comes off very cleanly and easily.

where I live, (MI) the road is pretty much covered in salt during winter and I didn't want the salt and crap to get in there and start eating away...

When I did my swap, I actually found out that you dont need to swap the SR one for the KA one. The only problem that using the SR one has is that the dust collar is a bit too long and rubs against that big rubber and bolt dampener on the driveshaft. 5 mins with a hacksaw will solve your problem
