Hey has anyone on here removed just the transmission. Cuase i'm trying to do that right now and i'm having some trouble reaching the 3 upper bolts that connect the transmission to the block. Anyone have any advice if they have ever done this?

Just reach up there with a wrench. There is no easy way to get these, but it can be done. It is tedious and will need plenty of elbow grease to budge it loose. The upper bolts tend to be the hardest ones to get to.

Yeah, i just got all of them undone except for the very top one. It's not being very friendly.

Best idea is to remove the transmission cross member and allow the rear of the transmission to rotate down. This should give a little better access to the top bolts.

yeah that and we used a really long extension for the air wrench (almost 3') with a swivel tip. that really cut down the work for those top bolts.

Just got the transmission out like 15 mins ago. Wow those top bolts suck. Yeah we dropped the transmission and we were able to reach them with a little bit more ease.

when i did my clutch in my s-14 i had to turn the transmission on its side.this gave more clearance. i needed this clearance on the install.i went up and in when the transmission was about an inch or so from the block i turned it back upright to slide it in that last inch

I had to loosen the engine mounts, then drop the rear of the transmission... If I remember correctly, I reached the top bolts through the top of the engine compartment.

Yep, I did the same thing, removed the rear transmission mount. Then reached in from the top of the engine. Its still a bitcL to get to......
