ok guys, im having trouble removing the intake manifold. heres what i have done so far (its a ka24e, 1990 240sx)taken off the top part of the manifold. i need to remove the bottom part from the head now, i have taken out a total of 6 bolts=2 small bolts, 2 long ones, and 2 nuts/washers. there is one more bolt that i cannot frigging get to!!!! its in the very front of the manifold, right next to the power steering pump? (i dont remember if its power steering or a/c) how did you guys get to it? i dont really want to take off hte head, as i have been reading about, that it is easier to take off the head to remove the intake manifold. im trying to make this as simple as possible. so...im thinking i need to go underneath the car to get that last bolt from the intake manifold, which is no plm but right now im taking a food break, cuz me hungry! and i was wondering how you guys got to it?TIA

I did this recently, but forgot how I did it. I need to have a look at my spare SOHC manifold to remember. Unfortunately for you, it's at my buddies house and it's raining cats and dogs here. I'll investigate in the next couple days if you can wait.

I've removed the manifold with the engine out of the car and it was fairly easy that way, but as far as in the car, I'm pretty sure it will be easier to get it from underneath, considering the air collector is in the way. You probably already knew you can just leave the collector bolted on and just remove the lines...

Why are you trying to get the manifold off anyways?

i am removing the manifold because the hard water pipe is cracked, and its leaking major coolant all over the place. i may just end up swapping the whole motor, since i just picked up a little lower mileage KA for 200 bucks complete! talk about a homie hookup

:edit: i will try to take pictures tmw, since its raining/dark right now and post them up ASAP and show you guys what i am talking about..its the bracket underneath the intake manifold that is coming up at like a 45 degree angle, and is directly behind the manifold. its not coming off.

I just ripped open a kae last week and had no problems getting the intake manifold off with the engine in the car. I'll have to get back to you on that particular bolt. I don't remember it well enough, but I remember that I had no problems whatsoever. I'll take a look at my daily driver kae in a bit when I get it home.
