So I just bought a bunch of stuff and may need a little help here. Gt2871r .64 power fc, 256 tomei cams should be direct replacement from stalk, arp studs, apexi head gasket, greddy suction kit, sard oil catch, koyo rad, mazworks v2 fuel rail kit 725cc injectors. Anyways I've never done an upgrade to a car before except a clutch. So far I have turbo and exhaust man off radiator previous suction kit fuel rail injectors are out rad fan is off valve cover is off too intake man is unbolted having trouble getting it off. So I'm trying to do the head gasket and arp studs leaving the motor in the bay. Any further tips on how to get head off I believe I have the timing set to tdc only one silver link on chain it lined up with left cam mating mark at 10 and other cam gear mating mark is at 12 o clock. If that's all correct what should I be doing next? And ill gave some questions in regards to a tune for the power fc no where close to a dyno shop I have a super afc I'n the car now

Your intake manifold is probably being held on by the braces bolted to the block near the oil pan as well as getting hung up on the coolant hoses to the idle air valve.

You need to pull the head to clean off old gasket material. For a metal HG, you really should be taking the block and head to a machine shop to check them for straightness. If they're warped, the ML HG will have a higher propensity to leak than the stock gasket.

So long as the cams are pointed in the right direction, you're at TDC on the compression. Often, the links don't line up, but if you're worried, keep rotating the motor until you see the links line up. It can turn into a workout of cranking to get them all properly lined.

Once you decide to pull the cams, zip tie the chain to the cam sprockets. That will prevent then getting off a tooth. To prevent the crank sprocket, just hang the upper part over the timing cover and weigh it down. That should keep the chain from falling into the pan and getting off time. Obviously, you need to keep the chain from falling as soon as you split the cams from the sprockets and maintain that till you put them on the new cams.

Turn the crank to TDC (second tick mark from the left on the crank pulley) and make sure the cam lobes are pointed up in the correct orientations per the service manual. I don't recommend removing the chain completely because you'll break the gasket seal of the timing cover to the upper oil pan, and to properly reseal it requires pulling the oil pan, which is near impossible to do in the car without supporting the motor from above.
