I apparently have another mouse nest in the fan motor; it was just replaced by the dealer 6 - 8 months ago. This time, my wife and I are going to remove it by removing the dash. I want to see were the rodent is entering the vehicle and put a metal screen over the hole. If anyone here has done this procedure, I'm just now starting (10:30 CST, Monday, 12 May '14) and would appreciate any advice.

I also want to install the corner dash Teeters on either side of the dash. My non-bose system does not have them. Does anyone know if the wiring is in place to install these speakers?

Thank you for that link. Actually, I was part if it when I had the dealership replace the motor last year. But this time, I'm actually removing the dash and checking to install speakers in the corners of the dash. I've presently hit a wall on this project. Everything is lose and ready to come out but the steering wheel HAS to come out. I've done enough for today. I'd still like to hear from anyone that has installed the corner and center speakers.

I didn't find any wires to hook up the tweeters and will probably just patch into the front speaker wires. Is that how you wired yours?

I got everything back together and ran speaker wires to the corner grills in the dash and the center area for a subwoofer. I patched into the front speaker wires for the corners, and the Pioneer has a 'sub out' in the back. When I locate speakers to fit the 3" hole, I'll post back.

Problems:
1. Could not completely remove the dash because I didn't have the tool to remove the steering wheel air bag. If you start this job, you will need a Torx bit to remove 2 screws in either side of the s/wheel. These screws have the star pattern, but also have a small, metal tit in the middle. I have plenty of star shaped bits, but none with a hole in the center. I'm sure they're readily available, but didn't want to run downtown to get them. We worked around it with it partially lifted out, but also followed darylzero's cleaning instructions. When we finished, we zip tied a close knit fiberglass screen over the louvers to keep out any debris. Most of the debris, especially in daryl's pictures, is coming from the floor padding/insulation. The fan is so strong, it acts like a vacuum cleaner, and with your feet rubbing the padding, it's working loose and being pulled into the fan.

2. With everything together, the instrument panel displays 'check engine soon' and the airbag light is flashing. I called Nissan and their only suggestion was to bring it in for them to check; minimum $105. That is BS.

Anyone have any idea's about the CES and a/bag light?

While removing the dash, you disconnected the passenger airbag warning light below the AC knob, right? Search the forum, there is a procedure to turn off that light.

That's not the light that's on. The red airbag icon is flashing on the instrument panel.

Perhaps I misunderstood. I thought that the light to which you referred was the Airbag light under selector knob and that wasn't the one flashing. I did follow your link and it provided instructions on how to correct the flashing light on the instrument panel, and it worked perfectly. Thank you for the link.

I have an engine analyzer program on my laptop from AutoEnginuity that I've been using on my SuperDuty Diesel. I contacted that company and got the release codes for Nissan for $199. That may sound expensive, but it's a complete analyzer and code clearer on the same level as most dealerships. It would have cost me at least $105 plus the inconvenience of taking to the dealer, but I cleared the codes with the laptop and have the analyzer for future problems. It's been a good day.

Hi Im. The program is AutoEnginuity and you can find them at autoenginuity.com. The initial program is pretty expensive, about $500, but again, this is a professional analyzer similar to the one the dealers use. You must have some engine expertise to use the program. I purchased mine about 5 years ago for my Ford E-350 SuperDuty 7.3 diesel but it has all the information for most vehicles. All it takes is the unlock code for each vehicle manufacturer. Once your buy the initial program which is manufacturer specific, you can buy additional unlock codes for other manufacturers. So my initial was about $500, but to add Nissan was only $199. It paid for itself today when I cleared the codes.
