I cant get a good hold on the nipple that screws into the top back end of the exhaust manifold. I think that its a 23mm hex.

Anyone know of a good way to remove it? Do i need a large shaft 23mm wrench or should I have a shop try at it? Low budget (as always) is the key here...

Also can i remove the AIV connection at the bottom of the manifold? It looks kinda like its permanently in there.

you can remove the aiv connection at the bottom of the mani. but its a *****! hehe. i ended up using a pipe wrench. then i removed the bolted part off of the pipe and used a nickle to fit into the hole of the mani, sealed it in with the bolt. :)

as for the egr, did you try to use a breaker bar yet? you could just stick a pipe over the wrench. :)

No, its not a connection that you can get a socket wrench around. The nipple is being removed for a header installation, and can only be fitted to an open end wrench.Big 23mm wrenches are expensive!!! Just looking for the alternate route.
