Tearing down my engine completely for the first time so I can get the block sent off to the machine shop. While tearing it apart I ran into an issue with the crankshaft, I cant get it out...

Forgive me if these questions are retarded but here it goes. I loosened the 10 bolts that hold in the thing that secures down the crankshaft (refer to pic) but I cant get it to come off. I was using this thread to sorta reverse engineer a tear down lol.

I figured I have to remove that thing, then remove the pistons/rods, then the crankshaft. Again, this is my first go at this.

This shows what im trying to remove

This is how my motor sits as of about 2 minutes ago.

I appreciate any help, and i'm continuing to search for an answer also.

The Factory Service Manual says to remove the pistons+connecting rods first, then the crankshaft second.

i used my engine hoist, applied some upward pressure (1 of the engine stand wheels was off the ground) and then wiggled it back and forth. :bigthumb:

I know I should look at the FSM but should the crank just lift out?
