How do i remove the ca18det timing cover? Can i remove it while the motor is in the car? Are there any gaskets or anything that i need to replace while this is off before i put it back on(like what you have to do for the valve covers.). Any color suggestions?

its pretty straight forward unscrew them allen bolts, remove CAS, 2 bolts behind the timing cover. I cant remember if I had to remove the water pump pulley to get it off, its been awhile. Its easy and no gaskets to replace.

You've got to take off the pully, IIRC. It won't clear something if you don't.

youll have to remove the water pump pulley. there are the allen bolts (cant remember the size), 2 10mm bolts in the upper cover, and 2 8mm ones in the lower cover. to take the lower cover off you need to remove the crank pulley (its a 1 and 1/16 i think?) because the cover wont clear the water pump unless you pull it straight out (towards the front of the car).

hope that helps. im really not that nerdy CA wise, but i had to do this 3 times in the last 2 weeks.

Did you prime before you painted? Also, how long did you let the covers dry after the final layer? I typically leave them stand for about 24 hours before I use them again. I find whenever I spray paint stuff, and then let it only dry to the touch and then just slap it on, it always starts to bubble or peel.

But I really do love that color. It looks like more of a gold than bronze, which is exactly what I'm shooting for when I repaint mine again.
