Removing Auto Shifter knob

I've been trying to take off my shifter knob, it has white spots on it so I want to replace it and move the O/D switch somewhere else.

I found the 2 screws on the opposite side of the shifter but I cant figure out how to remove the 2 O/D wires holding the shifter down.

Just pull the shifter straight up and the while plastic piece which holds the O/D wires will just pop off. Just make sure when it pops off it doesn't fall under that slider piece or you might have to take off the plastic shifter surround to pull it back up.

You can also trying using a flat head screwdriver; there are little grooves on each side of the white plastic piece. It's barely secured to the shifter shaft so it should pop off pretty easily.

hmmm lemme know how this works out.Im thinking about replaceing mine as well. my TV keeps hitting it everytime i open it n the car is in park!

My plastic clip was really on there I broke 2 of 4 sides and one of the wire clips. so my O/D doesn't work anymore but thats ok I enjoy the experience this just means I have to modify it. probably going to try to get some stupid shaft looking knob off ebay.
