has anyone ever removed the any of the bulbs in the instrument panel for the airbag/check engine/brake warning lights. for some reason my airbag light just came on and is blinking. theres nothing you can do about it but get the whole thing replaced for like $700. so i want to just take out the bulb. is it very hard to get to? thanks.

http://www.importnut.net has a good little write up on removing the air bag light, steering wheel, dash and whole air bag system. Check it out. I followed it and it only took about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to pull whole dash and everything. Once you have the gauge cluster in hand twist out the light and unscrew two wires. Then the fun, putting it all back. Mine is a 97 by the way.

Not just illegal, but DANGEROUS. That light comes on when there is a fault in the airbag system. You should have it checked immediatly because if the fault becomes bad enough it may cause the airbag to deploy. At any time. especially if the car is on. While you are driving. And then you meet my good friend chuck. (AKA Charles Darwin.) Because you will not survive because you are not the fittest.

Do not ignore this problem for everyones safety. If you endanger me or my friends I will track you down and shake my finger at you.

Its actually very simple to do. I took out my gauge cluster to put indiglo gauges in and it took me less then an hour. Some places will tell you you have to unbolt the steering column but i didn't have to. Just drop your steering wheel as far down as you can, and usually with a little moving back and forth the cluster will come right out.

yea im just trying to figure out the simplest way to do it without taking everything apart. like maybe finding a wire to cut. i work at a nissan dealer and im going to find out which air bag is bag first.

first off dont cut the wire, second , if the air bag light is on there is a problem in the airbag circuit, and it SHOULD NOT DEPLOY, if the light is on it should disarm the system, it senses something wrong, and therefor wont light the bag off. since you work at a nissan dealer, hook up the scanner, find out what is wrong, could only your clock spring, or a open connecter, but please dont cut the wire. oh and by the way if the connecters are yellow dont try and hook them up for a stereo power wire, seen too many go off cause of that

well i allready talked to the main nissan mech. and he said all the computer will tell them is which one is bad, it wont tell you what is the problem. so the only thing to do is replace the whole thing, so im just going to pull the light.

On the Q45, the airbag light starts randomly blinking.

That usually means its in self diagnostic mode.. The procedure on the Q is to turn the ignition on, and press the door switch more than 5 times within 10 seconds of turning the ignition to ON...

Worth a shot, takes about 10 seconds!! :D

wtf!? if the light comes on theres a damn good reason for it. Thats jsut as bad as saying "oh the check engine light came on, take the bulb out, there we go engine fixed." and that "mechanic" is BSing you, all he prolly knows to do is pull codes and throw parts at a car, not actually diagnose a problem. Go to a good driveability tech and get it checked out, dont do it ghetto.

Quote »door switch? im not sure what you mean by this.[/quote]It should be on the left side of the door frame.. A little button that the door presses to turn off the lights inside...
