I have a 1990 240sx and am removing the air conditioning.Behing the glove box are two units/containers, are these air conditioning related? Where the air conditioning lines ran through the firewall iit appears to run into these two boxes?Just wondering what they were and if they could be removed, I figured the were cooling units but just wanted to make sure before I did anything I shouldn't.

There are a total of three boxes behind the dash. From left to right, heater core, A/C evaporator, blower motor. You can remove the evaporator, but you'll need to either order the ductwork for a car without A/C, or hollow out the box and reinstall it. With it gone, the blower motor won't blow air into the heater core, which will suck when it gets cold. Make sure you drain the R12 at a certified A/C recycling center, venting it into the atmosphere is not cool.
