is there a DIY anyone knows of that I can follow? Since my a/c doesn't work anyways, I thought I might as well get rid of it and save a little weight

well the first thing u wnana do is drain the system... for that unscrew some part of the ac system til it starts leaking, then just wait as it empties itself out..

i removed my AC and really all there is to it is just removing pieces that are connected.. unscrewing things and unplugging things. AC compressor, ac compressor bracket, ac lines (one of the lines that passes from behidn the engine you cant take out with the engine in, at least not in one piece.), ac cylinder thingie, the ac radiator, and then plug the holes going into the passenger compartment unless you remove the dash to remove that part of the ac as well. pretty simple really : )

i know this isnt very clear but if you have a FSM you can loook at that, post up if u got any questions.

you should have a shop drain it out for u. the stuff that leaks out hurts the environment and u can be charged $25000 if u get caught

They wouldn't vent it. They can resell it. In fact, for the same reason, they probably wouldn't charge anything either.

Just start pulling parts until you have no a/c left. If you can't figure out how to remove the a/c... well... nevermind...
