I have question. Does removing the A/c Add alil more hp to your engine? Also So far AEM only makes a SHORT RAM intake for the 240sx. 92.I was wondering which is better. SHORT RAM OR CAI.

cold air=denser air=more oxygen molecules for you engine to burn. cold air intakes are optimal.

removing the entire a/c system will free up some rotating mass, it's like taking your clutch fan off. but with the condenser up front gone, you have better airflow over over your radiator AND you free up around 80lbs maybe.

its a pretty good deal if youre cool with driving without it.

Yeah, I know AEM doesn't make intakes for my 89 anymore. K&N however does. A little more expensive however...

with CAI the biggest thing i'd be careful of is sucking up water. AEM now has a valve that goes on their application that stops that from hppening. I live in the wet coast, I mean west coast and a buddy of mine hit a rather large pothole with water in it (didn't see it due to night time) and *slurp* *thud* = dead engine. turns out the pothole was about 3 feet long and a good 6 inches deep. his body kit acted like a giant scoop and just sent a crap load of water right thru his CAI. Sucks to be him.

make sure that your a/c is empty before you remove, any shop should be able to drain it for you, refrigerant is not something you want to get on your skin, or into the atmosphere at all really.

but yeah it weighs alot, and the bay looks better without it

Ouch, those aren't that cheap. They don't make any AEM's for an 89 anymore I am probrably going to get a K&N system for 210 bux canadian. after shipping and everything those ones would be more like 260 for me to buy on that link.

removing the a/c is overrated if you're looking for weight savings. the heaviest component of the system is the compressor (it might weigh 40 pounds). everything else is VERY light. even the condensor weighs next to nothing. if you want to reduce rotating mass, simply remove the a/c belt. see if it makes enough of a difference for you to go ahead and yank the entire system.

keep in mind, if you do remove your condensor, it'll take more time for your car to warm up in the winter.
