i removed the air filter from my 93 saturn sl1. so i am wondering if this will harm my engine. i plan on getting a 240sx in june. over a period of 6 months or so will the tiny dirt particles build up and ruin something?

Yes! It's there for a reason. I'd put it back or else you might suck up some nasty stuff and u could damage your motor. If you did it for performance, you should get a high flow drop-in filter, such as K&N. It will flow like there's no filter, but filter like there is one.

If you want to destroy your Saturn, by all means, take out the air filter!

If you want the cool sound, remove the resonator box on the intake.

Look at the intake track carefully. It will be *before* the air filter, if there is one (should be). Basically remove anything that is before the air filter. Let the fresh air come directly into the airbox. There is usually a bunch of plastic baffles and such before it actually enters the airbox to keep things quiet.
