Thats exactly what happens, all that fluid going out and no way to let air in. i wouldnt be worried about a ruptured gas tank, but a vacuum in the gas tank means that your motor could not be getting as much gas as it should.and you know what they say.... lean mixture= damaged engine.
i was going to leave it open, but normally wouldnt you want a vent above the container its venting, seeing how gravity works and all.
