I have searched on this webboard and found nothing on the subject.

For those of you wondering WTF is this guy talking about. There is a set of plates 1 in each intake runner that close off to improve low end torque. Problem is they NEVER work right in cars that have a lot of miles. They are supposed to open as rpms rise but, they tend to stick, or not open all the way. After installing cams, porting and, adding a turbo chager these butterflys become a restriction. In my 3Sgte MR2 I removed them and lost some low end torque but gained some high end HP. It also made the turbo come on much smoother. That was a good thing since sudden unexpected boost is no good.

So has anyone removed them? How is the affect on the KA if you pull them out? I have an extra intake manifold that I plan to pull them out of and see what the differance in power is. Is it worth my time?

One more thing. What are the little holes just below the plates? Is that where the air from the IACV comes in?

Ahhhh, run a search for SCV valve or butterfly valve removal. That should turn up a LOT. The quick answer is that they are easy to take out and are really only wasting space.
