Hey guys don't flame I'm really not sure about this and i want to make sure that im not making more work for my self. Im replacing my Head Gasket and i took off the valve cover and from what im understanding, from the Fsm i have to take out the valve springs, rocker arms, hydraulics lashers cams and what not then take it off the head to get to the gasket??
Now i know i have to take off the timing chain but do i really have to take all of that out just to take it off.
Remove Valve Springs??

just the cams
the head bolts are located under the cams. everything else can stay in. you only need to do that stuff if you are refurbishing the entire engine.

yes there is. There is a tool that allows you to compress the valve springs w/o taking the head off. Many varieties exists. You do need an air compressor because you have to put combustion chambers under pressure so that your valves dont drop when you take the retainer and collars off. The valve seals do hold on to them a little bit but Id rather not take the chance.
