i got the engine out of its mounts, and jacked the engine up(it's actually lifting the car up now it's so far up)... still can not get the damn pan out. if i drop the crossmember down, are there any risks i should be aware of (ie: engine falling on me/front end folding over). my chiltons manual absolutely does not help me today. it seems that theres something hanging into the oil pan that is blocking me. could i avoid dropping the crossmember by turning the engine to a certain point so whatever is there will be out of the way???? i'm seriously ****in stumped. im about to just say screw the gasket and weld the damn thing on

Drop the pan but don't remove it. It'll take some contorting but you can get the old gasket off without it falling into the pan if you're careful. apply new rtv with your finger tip.

i disconnected the steering linkage and took the bolts off the crossmember and it just fell right out. i replaced the gasket and put it back in place. jacked the crossmember back up into place and dropped the engine back into it's mounts.
