I have hard water spots on the windows of my Q and does anyone have a sure fire method to remove these pesky buggers?

Try Bon AMi or Barkeep's Friend , rinse with distilled water, dry with cotton, treat with Rain-X or some better polymer film.

My black 90Q had sat amongst the pines and oaks for about a year without being washed. The windows were a mess. I tried the standard bug and tar remover which didn't touch the water spots. I used a product from the local parts store called "No Touch Auto Glass Stripper" and it worked great. There were 3 or 4 choices on the shelf that may have worked depending on how severe your stains are.

Bon Ami and Barkeep's Friend probably work great too.

Why not on the windshield? I used this on my daughters old Corolla and it worked like a champ. Very fine (0000 I think) in an overlapping circular motion. Not too much pressure.

Well I used 0000 steel wool with a fine compound and all that did was smooth the water spots, but they still remain.

Goody where did you buy the "No Touch Auto Glass Stripper"?

Napa Auto Parts. Any national chain will have a selection of glass cleaners.

You cant prevent those kind of stains sometimes. What i do is, spend time washing it or find some other solutions like vinegar.

Be really careful with steel wool. I used it to clean the adhesive residue from my front windows after removing the tint and in a couple spots it left very fine spiderweb-like scoring in the window. Really wisest to stay away from things that are harder than the glass.

Actually since I posted this, I found that Rain-X removes a great deal of the deposits that I had on both vehicles. Whatever the chemical is in the product, it dissolves the material quickly.

I've used the polish from Griots. Works well.

im not sure what kind of spots your talking about, but on all my used cars i go over all the windows with a razor scrapping off any dirt/deposits/residue and it makes them look brand new.

A basic razor blade and some determined scraping does work really well on auto glass!

I am on well water, so the minerals that I have to add to soften the water creates some very stubborn water spots when they dry in the sun. I have tried using a razor, but I get better results with the Rain-X for some reason.

Coke. As in Coca-cola. (Pepsi does not work and neither do the generics.) Preferrably out of a can. Pour it on the glass, leave for 90 seconds. Wipe off with a squeegee (or use your windshield wipers). I have no idea how or why it works, it just does.
