So I have read up on how to do this and from the videos and articles it seems very trivial but there must be something I am doing wrong... I remove the two screws in the top, then the trim piece should just pop out but for the life of me, it can't be pulled out. The steering wheel is in the way. What am I doing wrong here?

I have the steering wheel in the lowest possible position but the backside has a plastic tab that sticks out too far to prevent me from removing it completely to access the gauge cluster. I tried rotating it in every possible position. I am trying to fix my erratic tachometer but got thwarted by plastic trim lol. Help.

I've never done that repair but the manual says to remove the driver airbag module and the steering wheel to get the clearance you need.

What seriously, I swore I read it just pops out... maybe only in the post facelift models?
